    Event Details:

The City of Waterloo Museum is thrilled to announce a visit from a Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen on July 23, 2022. This visit coincides with the museum’s current exhibition Health in Space: Daring to Explore. The day will also include a STEM in Space vendor fair with hands-on activities, crafts and information related to life in space. You will not want to miss hearing Jeremy speak about his career and space exploration, beginning at 2 p.m. inside the Sun Life Financial Arena with Mayor Dave Jaworsky. Admission to the event and all talks are free.

The day’s events will extend beyond Colonel Hansen’s talk to local businesses and educational presenters sharing their work in STEAM and Space research. Between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. the Perimeter Institute, University of Waterloo’s Gustav Bakos Observatory and the Earth Science Museum will be onsite with information and fun learning opportunities for the whole family. The day will also include Rover races and 3D printing from InkSmith. In addition, the Laurier Faculty of Education Mission on the Moon program will be running family-friendly activities to explore life in space. The University of Guelph’s Tomato Science and Let’s Talk Science teams will present their tomatoes in space program and lunar research activity. LAUNCH Waterloo, Indus Space Inc. and YouTube sensation Dave’s Armoury will also be joining the event with interactive family activities that will allow participants to discover more about the science behind life in space. Plus, Teledyne DALSA will be present sharing some of the innovative space developments going on here in Waterloo and around the world. Stay tuned as more presenters are added.
