Community planting event in Bechtel Park
Event Description
Join the City of Waterloo’s Pollinator Working Group at our fall community planting events in Bechtel Park on Saturday's from 10am to 12pm:
· Sept 20 – Dig in and plant some early spring flowering trees and 250 native wildflowers.
· Oct 18 – see details below
Get your hands dirty at our upcoming community planting event on Saturday October 18th from 10 am to noon!
Help create habitat for pollinators and take a tour of our wildflower project:
● Hand broadcast native wildflower seed into a newly tilled plot.
● Learn about beetle bank habitat.
● Take a tour to see how we are managing invasive buckthorn.
● Pollinator Roadsides will share how they’ve experimented with different site preparation methods, turning barren roadsides into pollinator habitat in Waterloo Region.
This project is supported by the Region of Waterloo’s Community Environmental Fund.

· This event will be rescheduled if there is severe weather (e.g. thunderstorms). Sign up to stay informed!
· Need volunteer hours for high school? We’ll have forms on hand to ensure your efforts are counted!
· Parking available in Bechtel Park lot near the Leash free dog park. Across from the tennis court, head south along the mown trail. At the top of the sloped hill, you will find our wildflower plot in the south-east corner (OR park at Bridgeport Public School, 59 Bridge St W, and walk up the sloped natural area into the park).
