Event Details:

Join the City of Waterloo’s Pollinator Working Group at a small community planting event in Waterloo Park.  Help us establish healthy habitat for pollinators by planting this woodland garden with up to 100 native wildflowers that prefer shade.  We will also be laying down cardboard and mulch to smother any unwanted vegetation.  Try your hand at our matching game or view our display – either way, you will learn some fun facts about native pollinators!

Note the parking lot near the Park Inn, off the Young & Albert St park entrance will be closed starting Sept 11 - October.  Use our parking map to find free parking in uptown lots.  From the park roadway off Young St entrance, follow the footpath to Eby farmhouse at the top of the hill just past the old school house.

During planting events, city staff provide direction and supply hand tools and cloth gloves. Bring your own bottled water. Participants must wear closed-toe footwear and protective gloves.  Moderate physical activity is required such as bending, lifting and walking on uneven terrain within natural areas. All participating youth (under age 18) must be supervised by a parent or adult guardian.

A limited number of plants will be available to plant so come early!  Drop in or sign-up in advance using our online participant sign-up form beginning Sept 1 until Tues Sept 19 at noon.
