Join the City of Waterloo’s Pollinator Working Group at a community planting event in Bechtel Park this fall. Help enhance an open meadow with 150 native wildflowers and a few early-spring flowering trees to establish healthy habitat for native pollinators! Come see the wildflowers we’ve planted since 2021.
Parking is available in the parking lot adjacent to the Leash free dog park in Bechtel Park. Across from the tennis court, head south along the mown path. At the top of the sloped hill, you will find our wildflower plots in the south-east corner (directly across from Bridgeport Public School off Bridge St).
During planting events, city staff provide direction and supply hand tools and cloth gloves. Bring your own bottled water. Participants must wear closed-toe footwear and provided cloth gloves. Moderate physical activity is required such as bending, lifting, pushing and walking on uneven terrain within natural areas. All participating youth (under age 18) must be supervised by a parent or adult guardian.
