Event Details:

Join the City of Waterloo’s Friends of Waterloo Park at a community planting event in Waterloo Park this fall.  Together, we will be planting 440 native sedges, wildflowers and shrubs adjacent to Silver Lake along the public trail near the Grist Mill off Caroline St.

Dig in and help plant! Enhancing shorelines with native vegetation helps to improve water quality, absorb standing water and create healthy habitat for pollinators like bees and butterflies.

What to wear?

This section is very saturated with standing water so wear rubber boots or old footwear that you don’t mind getting muddy!   Participants must wear closed-toe footwear and gloves.  Bring your own bottled water, as needed.

During planting events, city staff provide direction and supply hand tools and cloth gloves. Moderate physical activity is required such as bending, lifting, pushing and walking on slippery surfaces or uneven terrain within natural areas. All participating youth (under age 18) must be supervised by a parent or adult guardian.

Drop in or sign-up in advance using our online participant sign-up form no later than Friday Sept 8 at noon.
